WATCH: Colin Kaepernick Speaks at 'UNTHANKSGIVING DAY' Gathering

Out-of-work quarterback Colin Kaepernick, infamous for starting the growing trend of professional athlete’s protesting the national anthem, took part this week in an annual ‘Unthanksgiving Day’ on Alcatraz to mark the anniversary of the ‘Indigenous People’s Sunrise Gathering.’
According to Fox News, Kaepernick arrived at the event unannounced, saying he was there to “celebrate” the Native American culture and to “pay his respects to those that participated” in the Sunrise Gathering.
“Today, I was on Alcatraz Island at the Indigenous People’s Sunrise Gathering, in solidarity with those celebrating their culture and paying respects to those that participated in the 19 month occupation of Alcatraz in an effort to force [America] to honor the Treaty of Fort Laramie,” he tweeted.
The ‘Indigenous People’s Sunrise Gathering’ refers to the occupation of the island-prison by Native American activists in 1969. Nearly 90 demonstrators occupied Alcatraz for nine months, demanding the site be converted into an “American Indian Cultural Center.”
“Our fight is the same fight,” Kaepernick told the crowd. “We’re all fighting for our justice, for our freedom. And realizing that we are all in this fight together makes us all the more powerful.”
